Engo solenoid replacement, easy!

I finally got around to powering up my winch (Engo 10000) last week, but determined that control solenoids were sticking.

Old solenoids:

New solenoids:

The new ones I used are: T-Max Products LLC 47-3650 - T-Max Replacement Winch Solenoids 16$ ea through Summit Racing. I don't have the info at hand rite now, but when I bought them I determined these could handle the load as they are a direct replacement for all of the T-max winches.

It was an easy direct swap, took my time with a wire brush cleaning up all the old connectors & wires. Seems to work fine (no load), hopefully will be able to test them under load this weekend down at Appalachian Rendezvous.

Note: if your solenoids are giving you trouble this is a cheap & easy fix. The BETTER fix is to go with a contactor. They cost 90-150$, and I'm not sure yet which one is compatible with my winch. Plus you have to do a little re-wiring/terminal crimping etc with a contactor.

I "might" go that route in the future, especially as it will allow for a better control "box" location.

Rite now my box is in the absolute worst place - front of my bumper. I moved it from inside the bumper when I was having trouble with it last week.

Pic of the current location, note that now the "Engo" is correct side up:

Same boat...

I too am now having to finally replace a solenoid on my Engo box... I have the 9,000 lb version. It is almost 3 years old and been used over 100 times, so I feel I have got more than my money out of it. I called and spoke to Joel at Engo, and I diagnosed my winch with his help and found out that not only was my solenoid bad, but due to rust and corrosion in the motor of my winch, it was not operating at full capacity. Luckily being the great guy Joel is and their amazing customer service, he offered to warranty the motor for free, despite it being out of warranty date. This just goes to show you the level of customer service Engo has! He also offered to sell me a new full box replacement (new box, single contactor has replaced the 2 solenoid setup, and the wires) for $50. He said this setup is much more reliable and heavy duty compared to the old two solenoid setup like we have. Me being a cheap wad though, I am going to simply replace the single solenoid as you did here. I will probably also buy the full kit from him and just throw it in my toolbox so the next time a solenoid goes out, I can simply upgrade it on the spot. I will also cleanup the old motor and take a wire brush to it and hose it down with WD40 and throw it in a plastic sealed bag and in my toolbox for a backup motor after I receive the new one from Engo. Also just to let anyone know that plans on replacing this solenoid, it is $17 now on Summit but there is around $6 shipping. If you go on Amazon, they have it for $18, with free shipping and free two day shipping if you are a prime member. Keep up the good work Engo and a special THANKS to Joel at Engo!!!
