Expedition Camper by IrbisOffroad

Tim and Kelsey get lost..
I think it was an old Chinook camper. I love it. I think that from the stage its at a normally mechanical person could finish it up nicely!
Once completed it would be a great all-arounder for exploring!

:iagree: I had this thread bookmarked! Hopefully someone on here will pick it up and continue the build. It looks like an interesting project!

Now appearing over here. One of the guys in our Yahoo Chalet owners forum alerted me to that page.

Ditto 2around, this is the first I've seen of this build and it's pretty cool.

It's tempting to go walk-through with my build, but I don't have the nerve or know-how to cut a huge hole in the back of my cab! Plus, even with extensive frame stiffening, I can't imagine there won't be some flex between the camper and the cab.

May have to take a trip down to Denver and check this shop out! Anybody that tries that conversion I'd like to meet.

How about pics of the 40 series Cruiser just to the right...? :sombrero:

EDIT: Wait a second, where is this place? I swear I can see a couple 55s and maybe a 60 back in there too...

It's in salida CO about 5mins from my house.
It's the largest toyota land cruiser junk yard in the us.
It's a pretty awesome place and great people.

Hah! A Chinook! I just saw one of those yesterday and it got my mind going about such a project.

Seems like there might be flex/torsion issues with making the shell one with the cab via 'bodywork'.

Thanks for the info guys. What did we do before the web?
