Have not accessed IRLP before. As I understand it, if I want to listen in tonight, I tune my radio to the local node which happens to be 3582 on 147.500, then if it is clear, announce my intention to use the node, wait a minute, then announce "K7LHL controlling node 9251 on western reflector" and punch in 9251 while still keying the mic, then wait for connection and I should hear the conversation, then key mic and enter 73 to close connection.
I'm sure I have it wrong here somewhere...so tell me.

Michael, that's the correct procedure.

The only variable is if that node will accept the use of a reflector. Some owners allow it, some don't.

I'm not sure I understood BajaXplorer's process. I am in SoCal, anyone know how or if I can access this? I have a 2m/440 setup.

I know it's late, but go to www.irlp.net to find a local repeater with an IRLP connection, then follow the above procedure.

I apologize for my quick departure. I didn't want to irritate the breaking station anymore than he already sounded. Thanks again for a great net.
