ExPo Series Roverpile updates

The Gubblemobile-
My own project has seen delay after delay, as I used up the entire budget x2 buying parts, waited for almost a year for my bulkhead and other hard parts, and then had all of the money I had saved go into vet bills. In the meantime, the project got blocked in by boxes and the debris that seems to characterize my life. The momentum just kinda seeped away, and I realized I needed a bit of help getting it back on track (and hopefully getting my garage back one day).

Tonight I talked to aka rover, who used to run the best 4x4 shop in the state, and I think we may be able to work a deal or two to get this project rolling eventually (like this spring/summer), while helping him get his own moving. It turns out parts from my old Jeep will not only go into my Series, but his as well.

Grendel-
I sent an email to Jonathan about this project, as the Rover is about the same vintage as mine, and in about the same overall condition. Jonathan says that despite an illicit affair he's having with a Porsche 911 SC, Grendel will be moving forward. The chassis swap will be featured in Overland Tech and Travel. Stay tuned...

Anyone else working on an old Black Oval Roverpile?

After just over a year I finally got my paperwork sorted with the AZ DMV to correct their title mistake and brought my two buses over to Switzerland. The 101 is in the garage (A single bay garage sucks) going through an overhaul to bring her back up to snuff and the NADA 109 waits in the driveway for me to complete the electrical system plus a myriad of other little jobs that go into a build. My neighbour has stopped talking to me but the rest of the people in my commune think its very odd, very un Swiss but very interesting.

How's the registration process in Switzerland? Are they as bad as some other European countries? An NADA Rover has to be fairly unique over there.

We'll figure something out, and I'd hate to have your project lose momentum. I'll have a couple weekdays off next week (Wednesday/Thursday) if you're interested in coming by and oogling the parts pile. Let me know, and I'll get out the shovel to start clearing off the junk (scrapbooking supplies, kids bikes, roof racks...) that the family has piled up before you show up.

Its Switzerland. If you can out bureaucrat the system and lubricate with lashings of cash anything is possible. They don't like you to play dumb - show them you know what you aer about and understand the system and it all goes a bit smoother. On my two all I need is an emissions test and an exhaust noise test and I'm done. The art is coming to an agreement about what those meissions should be as, as far as I can tell at least, Rover wasn't concerned about that when they built my trucks. Insurance will be a killer but I can share plates between them which cuts cost a bit.

I think I have the only NADA over here although I am pretty sure they built some trucks that used the 292 so its not that wild and unique.

Mike Helped me out by getting me a bunch of parts from his Series to keep me moving along on my 109 build. I will be using quite a bit of the stuff I got from Mike and will keep my motivation up.

Thanks Mike and am looking forward to helping you out on your build up of your Roverpile.

Heres a shot of what mikes parts are helping to build

Ed
