Expedition Portal is please to welcome Overland Navigator as the Title Sponsor of the "Completed Adventures and Events" section of the forum.

They have worked hard to successfully develop a user friendly navigation option specifically tailored to vehicle-based exploration and we appreciate their support of Expedition Portal.

Overland Navigator is field friendly topographic GPS mapping software.

* PC Software so you can use hardware with a big, easy to read, display.
* Seamless USGS Topographic maps automatically centered on your current location.
* Record a track log of where you went.
* Mark any points of interest you observe.
* Completely plug and play. Anyone can use it.

Overland Navigator stands apart because it's designed to be used in the field. After trying several other products on expedition we became frustrated and decided to make our own. Overland Navigator is the result.

* Large touchscreen friendly buttons are easy to use even with gloves on.
* Complete keyboard control makes it a breeze to use on traditional laptops/netbooks without using a mouse.
* High contrast user interface is easy to see in bright sunlight.
* Features are designed so that tasks can be completed with the least number of operations.
* Menus automatically hide for maximum map visibility.

Thanks for the welcome Brian. We're excited to be ExPo sponsors.

There is a ton of experience in the membership here and we'd love to hear from anyone that wants to offer up suggestions on how to improve Overland Navigator.

I made a short video that overviews the basic functionality. Hopefully people will find it interesting. I'll make a post about it in the Navigation section.

Overland Navigator rocks!! The simplicity and ease of use makes this product my favorite. It isn't bombarded by features I don't need on the trail and doesn't require me to re-learn how to use it every time. Before the days of netbooks, I wouldn't have considered using a computer over a dedicated GPS unit. Today, they're small enough now and far less expensive than dedicated systems costing thousands more. In addition, you get the added capabilities of what a computer can offer! Overland Navigator in my opinion, wins hands-down for off-road navigation. :sombrero:
