F150 4x4 prerunner expedition

Hey Guys, this is my first post on here so still learning my way around i hope i am posting this in the right spot.

I am building my first expedtion type truck with a 4x4 prerunner styling. I picked up the truck and trailer combo for a little under 1500 bucks ( the trailer cost the most ) the truck on the other hand needs a bit of work, it has an injector problem which i hope doesnt end up being a problem so here are the specs of the truck: 1995 F150 5.8 (351w) super cab short bed TTB 4X4, the body it good only has a little ding on the side of the driverside the interior has all the power options and only has one rip on the edge of the drivers seat. overall I beleive its a great base for a 4x4 expedition prerunner truck.

the trailer was something i was able to work into the deal its a 2006 big tex car hauler trailer 7000lb cap. all the tires were good enought to get me home thats about it but cant complain for the deal fr both.

so the plan:

Front Suspension:
cutting out stock shock mount and adding a F250 shock mount ( fits longer shock)
deaver 5.5 coil spring
king 2.5 triple by-pass shocks
cut and turned beams
longer hiemed radius arms
expecting to get 15.5inch of wheel travel strapped

Rear Suspension:
deaver springs with 4 inch lift for a bronco ( 3inch wide springs over a 2.5 wide spring)
king 2.5 triple by-pass shocks
bedcage
longer shackles
expecting to get 17-19 inchs of travel strapped ( pending on shackle i use)

Wheels and Tires:
15inch Method double standard
33inch BFG KM2

Body:
wheels base will be cut down in front of rear axle by 15 inchs
fiberglass front and rear fenders along with hood
dual fuel 33gal bronco tanks
bronco graveyard winch front bump
rear frame section to hold my honda XR650R
dual spare tire holder fuel can holder

Hard Mounted Camping Gear:
RTT - unsure yet what type looking fat maybe a overcamp
ARB - cooler box in bed
rat pak sliding storage box for spare truck parts

I am sure i will add more in detail as i need it but the idea with a shorter wheel base was for higher speed off roading and to add the removable rear section for my bike. Along with adding a ton more weight to the rear with all the extras i would like is to even out the weight from front to rear.

The reason for having a prerunner style expedition truck is because we do a lot of racing in baja (2007 and 2011 baja champ in class 5 open) along with racing in nevada and arizona. so we spend a lot of time prerunning for races and camping already i would like to have an all in one truck to make it easier.

I wanted to build a Expedition truck since last summer when me and my wife went on our honeymoon to alaska ( because its 118 degrees at home) and i fell in love with the time we were there along with driving the whole way, but i really want to get off the main road and see the hard to get to views and i hope this build with do that for me.

i added a few more taser pictures of our street legal (in ca) 4 seater prerunner and our class 1 race car ( both are corvette 650HP LS motor) along with a picture of me getting out of our class 5 open car at the finish line at the 2011 baja 1000 (class winner)

feel free to offer advice to my build or if your in the Southern California area would like to get to know some people that we can go hit some trails on dual sport bikes or in trucks.

I would suggest a smaller lift and cut out the wheel wells a touch if the tires rub. 33's will require a re-gear for the diffs to keep the motor in its optimum rpm range. I would certainly invest the money in the diffs before Triple bypass shocks. Anyway good luck with the build and thanks for sharing. The Deaver springs are great products.

the fender wells are plastic and will come out already and with fiberglass fenders there is no worry for rubbing with 33inch tires i can clear 35inch tires without rubbing and the gearing is already at 4:10 forgot to mention that so it shouldnt have any problem with 33inch tires

Different generation of truck, but may give you some ideas. Built by another veteran Baja racer (and two time Class 1700 Champ:smiley_drive:).

If you've used BFG pits, there's a fair chance we've crossed paths. I work with the fuels crew with the BFG Box van (Nelson Racing Services), when I'm no chasing for Dust Junkies Racing. Raced and pitted with Ray Griffin when he raced Jeepspeed. That kid is a natural isn't he?

Looking forward to your build. I think you'll find some cool ideas here. If you're like me, I tend to carry more tools/parts than comfort/convenience stuff. I'm getting old, my doc says I'm fat, and the comfort/convenience stuff is starting to look more appealing!

yep we use BFG for all our pit support for fueling ( thank you for helping us if you ever did) i really dont know any jeepspeed guys at all. that f150 build is super nice do you have is contact if you can send to me?

the parts its pretty much my next question when i finished this truck. I know how much we carry for our race cars to any race. so i dont want to get crazy on carry extra parts jut what i need to get to a paved road if i needed hahaha.

Im sure you have already considered this but I have to bring it up anyway as it keeps giving me red flags. Will you not be severely overloaded with a 1/2 ton frame/axles once you add in your proposed gear? Two full size spares, 66gal of fuel, an ARB fridge full of food/liquids, winch bumper and winch, roof top tent, storage box with spare parts and an XR650? Sounds like a load for a 3/4 ton at least to me. Especially since it sounds like you plan on hammering it off road. Just throwing that out there. I think you will find that the overwhelming opinion on this forum is overbuild for what you are doing so that you dont need to carry tons of parts. Just my $.02
