f350 4x4 ambulance project.......

I'm almost ready to start my next project. The base of the truck is 1995 f350 4x4 ambulance with7.3 powerstroke 54k miles. The plan is to remove the ambulance body and install the fiberglass camper shell from a xplorer 272 motorhome

Both vehicles have been purchased

The xplorer 272 picture is not the actual truck, its just a picture I found.

Both vehicles have been purchased but waiting to pick up the ambulance next week.

I have a lot of research to do. Luckily my father is a retired welder, fabricator, carpenter and all around get it done type of a guy. He will be doing most of the project.

The things I'm worried about so far

1. whats the best way to attach the fiberglass body to the frame? Ive read the chasis flexes quite a bit. I'm thinking I will attach it just like the ambulance box was done
2. Will the fiberglass body meet up with he back of the cab ? I'm pretty sure we will have to fabricate something
3. Will the frame have to be lengthened? Pretty sure it will but it really depends on how far forward we sit the body

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Ambulance Boxes don't flex. The Ambo box is likely bolted solid to the frame. They would remove all flex from the frame.

I'd look at how it's bolted to the Van frame. The van frame is wider than the truck frame.

No ideas about lengthening... I'd move the axle forward or back on the frame rails and extend the tail end as needed.

what is width of F350 tunnel in the Ambo box assuming there is a tunnel of sorts produced by how an ambo box sits on the chassis but also wraps around it on the sides. Just wondering cause their is one local for sell (box from F350 ambo) and am looking for a potential box for my expdition build on an LMTV. It would be too tall (for me) if ALL of it sat above chassis but if it dropped in and wrapped around chassis like on it's doner truck it might work. Thus the question

Much thanx in advance.
