facelifted XJ 1996, my offroading RIG

got this jeep two years ago, when i was just started to love the offroad scene.

did several trips with my Land Cruiser 200 and felt that it's better to be used on road and might as well build another rig for a more "serious" offroading.

So, i got a decent job in a great multinational company and purchased my dream vehicle: A JEEP XJ.

Purchased this from a general who served the nation, he owned it since new, hence a tidy number plate. Got facelifted to 98+ front end and rear end.
decided to keep the interior as stock, since i love the classic look.

I've seen lots of guys upgrade to the 97+ header, but I've never even heard of retrofitting the steel tailgate.

In fact, I would have said it couldn't be done.

Guess you see something new every day!

nope, its a customized made out of steel that we fabricated locally, just medium strength though. i dont think it can handle pulling via straps

It's an effort, in fact a big trial and error, for few weeks, because the shop doing it has done it to the orange XJ pictured above (also a friend of mine).
drawbacks if u installed it wrongly, water leaks during rainy season.
nevertheless i'm a happy customer no water leakage.
the 98+ version is almost twice the price of a pre 98 model here, its insane Averaging about $20-25K for med milage.
