Went out camping for what might be the last nice weekend in the PNW. I took the wife and kids along with my local Jeep club up into the cascades to break in the new trailer. I finally got my brake controller installed in the jeep Thursday night and everything packed up for an early out on Friday from work. We headed out from FT Lewis drove into the Wenatchee national forest via Chinook pass. Roads were perfectly dry and there is still no snow on the pass.

Made camp at Milk Pond at around 1800, the surrounding forests were shades of orange and red from the leaves changing colors and I don’t think we could have asked for a better night to camp. Hunting season was in full swing so we awoke to periodic shots, followed by my wife saying “hope he got away” it was pretty comical.

ON Saturday morning we drove into cliffdell to meet up with the rest of the group and have breakfast at Whistlin’ Jacks, great place if you ever find yourself there, the pancakes are amazing. From there it was off on a forest service road and up to an area called Moon and funny rocks, a strange volcanic formation open to OHV traffic and it is way to cool not to play around for a while.

On Sunday night the rest of the group left but we opted to camp along the Little Naches River and the temps really dropped. Don’t know the actual number but the sight of these narrowed it down.

Looks like a great weekend to be over there Jason. I love the fall colors along the Little Naches and/or Manastash Creek. It's my favorite time of year to be out there.
