Me and my family (wife and 2 toddlers) just ordered our first slide in truck camper. We are big into camping, hunting, and jeeping so we are extremely excited to join the overlanding community .

Please share your favorite camp meals or any go-to meals you have.... ive never had to be a camp chef for a family of 4 so i need all the ideas i can get!

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations,
Fwiw, we prepare and freeze a day or two before we're set to leave.
Chili, spaghetti, soup, I love to grill, premake (spices)burgers/chicken etc.
If we're several days we limit fresh fruits and vegetables, but in a pinch canned vegetables. Pbj's, sliced ham and cheese.
Whatever you like.
We find it best to plan a menu, then you don't have to take a whole lot extra..have fun!!

I do the same. I will make all sorts of soups, stews, entrees, etc then vacuum seal in meal-sized packs. My favorite dinner is fire-grilled steak, Salmon for the wife and campfire baked potatoes. I will also roast corn if it's in season. For breakfast, hands down biscuits and gravy. I also do pancakes, coffee cakes, hash browns and eggs. I make a grid chart for every day camping down the left with B, L, D across the top. Then I fill in the matrix with meals. From there, I can derive a mis en place/packing list at the bottom of the page. Take the chart/list on the trip and I have the flexibility of swapping meals around, knowing I have all the ingredients, or, create some new treat.

Something else I've been working on is pie-iron cooking. I always had a pie-iron in the tentiing/car-camping days and they are a fun way to add to your meals. versatile, easy to clean and pack.

Good one pot meal is a Tuna noodle dish.
Large pot with bag of extra wide egg noodles.
Heat up but leave a bit underdone.
Drain water and add a big can of tuna fish, a can of cream of mushroom soup and a bag of frozen peas.
Spice to tour liking, I add some pepper and garlic powder.
Heat up until nice and hot and serve.
Easy way to feed a family of 4 and only one thing to clean when you are done.

There are great family memories waiting ahead! With Kiddos onboard …
Oatmeal, dry cereal, bagels, pancakes for breakfast
PBJ/sandwiches, pasta/potato salad, chips for lunch
Mac and cheese and hotdogs, tacos for dinners.

Like others have said Take that prep seriously though. Smaller water/Gatorade bottles for coffee creamer, cracked eggs for scrambling. Premake PBJs…

Tortillas are great for any meal and make things easy to eat.

Breakfast - eggs, loose sausage, bacon, onions/peppers, cheese, salsa, hot sauce etc. Set all the fixings out on the table with tortillas and scramble a big bowl of eggs. Everyone can make what they want in a handy little sit by the fire and eat in your camp chair package.

For lunch or supper do ground beef/steak/ground chicken/ground turkey/diced up chicken breast and put out whatever your family will eat on top of it. Be experimental. The sky is the limit as to what you can come up with. Also lets you put together different options if you have picky eaters to please like I do.

As mentioned above, you can pre-cook the meat and even the eggs and warm things up for a quick, easy meal.

We did foil pack Philly cheese steaks and they turned out pretty good.

We also do chicken fajitas, Burgers, steaks....

Last year we started taking our air fryer with us too, lol... So pretty much just made the same meals we cook at home.

For breakfast our go to was the Bacon Breakfast Hash that Costco sells. Just add eggs and it's good to go.

We always prepare most of our food in advance, pre make dinners and breakfast + lunch servings. We also generally precut vegetables and things we know we will use to make it simple at camp.

Some of our favorites -
Premake breakfast burros - bake or skillet cook to warm up + side of hot sauce/salsa
Overnight oats with blueberries - premake single/double servings
Premake sandwiches
Spaghetti & Meatballs
Steak and vegetable
Carne asada
Fish tacos
Kids; Macaroni & Cheese, Quesadillas, chopped steak, shredded pork, fruit, Hawaiian rolls sandwiches, carrots, apples - ready to go - quick stuff.
