I wanted to make a thread dedicated to Spacekap info. These are very cool fiberglass truck tops, and I was in the market for something like this when I discovered them on craigslist. I finally bought one to fix up and build into a part time camper, but leading up to that, I struggled to find a good source of information on these, and seller listings were very vague as well. The information I did find was scattered among build threads, brochures, youtube videos, and technical documents. I am making this thread to consolidate critical info for anyone wanting to learn more about Spacekaps, the different models, and the specs. Most of this information comes from Spacekap documents, though some was found through web searches. If you find any incorrect info, please reach out, and please feel free to share your own info, pics, and experience if you own a Spacekap yourself to make this a well rounded resource for those in the future!

The Spacekap Concept
The Spacekap concept was not born yesterday. It was developed by the founder of Fibrobec and its engineers more than 35 years ago. From the beginning, it was innovative and even today, is the pride of our team.
The primary goal of this concept was: To make a universal and transferable tool box (no matter what the make of the pick-up truck), lightweight, resistant to humidity and mold and especially resistant to the rigors of the road and its users.
To do so, only the best available materials were and are used. The goal being to use the very best in terms of components, and to this day our Spacekap remains the reference in the industry. Be assured that it will serve you during many years in your projects and endeavors.

Installation methods:
Depending on the model and when it was manufactuerered, there seem to be a few different ways these caps were designed to secure to your truck. Older models used square metal tubes, with different lengths for different model trucks, with rubber stops on the end, that lever up under the bed side. Some newer models use heavy duty ratchet straps designed specifically for this application. Additionally, install shows preparing the bed with a platform for the cap to rest on, rather than resting it on the bedsides. Older models appear to use a wooden platform that you assemble, while newer models show a metal frame. Regardless, the height and size characteristics vary to suit the model truck. See photos and attachments in this post and previous!.
