Here are a few pics of the new roof rack system. Had to fab a few things due to not having the mounting hardware.I purchased the rack from Bigdaddy a few months ago. I guess he had his LJ stolen and the mounts were still on it.
Anyway, Here is what I came up with:
For the front, I used the windsheild light mounts that i already had. I cut the tabs off and started over due to the conflicting angle between the Congo Cage and the lights. I also wanted to be able to flip the rack system back without any tools. So, instead of using the original bolts that thread into the rack, I welded some threaded rod into the bottom of the legs so I could use stainless steel wingnuts. You need to be able to flip the rack system back when using the soft top and flip-open sunrider feature.
For the rear:
I used the holes above the rear tail lights that were already in my Rokmen Corned Guards. These are cold rolled steel and a pain to cut or drill into so that was a plus. The holes lined up almost perfectly with the rear legs. I had to flip the rear legs around to acheive this so the rack doesn't flip all the way back like it should. I'll perfect this at a later date.
