Finished up installing my hood vent kit today on the XJ.

Finally got my hood back from paint.
Here is the final product.

Hopefully the vents will let the XJ breath a bit better, dissipate the heat some so I can actually touch my hood again while it's hot!

The hood vents are made by Hyline Offroad.

My gauge stayed at under 210 today on a 60 mile ride, that's good for an XJ! I'm going to OK4wd truck show tomorrow which is probably 100 plus miles, will get a better idea how it handles longer rides than.

The install is easy with the right tools, Hyline gives you a template to attach to the hood and than you just cut away!!! Basically the whole area where you see the louvers is cut out.

They have kits for Tj's and Jk's right now as well at the XJ kit.

Those look good... very large. Who made them?

What is the vents specific for. It almost looks as if it can double for slow speeds as well as venting at highway without pushing back on the fan at all?

Description: Get that incredibly customized appearance you've been looking for. Hyline Offroad's fully functional aluminum Hood Louver Panels feature heat-venting louvers located in the most crucial areas above the engine bay. These panels are a good way to cover up cosmetic flaws on your hood and keep your engine running 10-20 degrees cooler on the trail or street. Stainless Steel Flush Head threaded studs are already pressed into the panel for a great smooth finished look. Flawless installation is made possible with our precision laser cut steel template, instead of a flimsy unreliable paper template. Everything you need to perform a professional installation is included within our kit. Hood Louver Panels come complete either unpainted to finish as you desire or with a smooth black semi gloss highly durable powder coat finish.

It will help quite a bit, I've had louvers on my last three XJs and for the last 70,000 plus miles on the KJ. After you've been on the trail for a while ( or stuck in traffic going to the mall:)) Put your hand over them and you'll feel the heat coming up out
I've never used any that huge before but they should help a lot

you wont see an engine temp drop because it is thermostatically controlled, the under hood temps in general will be lower, thus possibly making components last a little longer.
I have louvers in my LJ, glad I put them in, as I have a thing about heat.
Excessive heat kills engines.
