Do these have steering wheel locks? if so thered be no point in trying to hot wire, which would mean id need it towed 400ft to the parking lot and wait till monday to get a key from mitsubishi, then figure out how to remove the broken bit

If you don't have a spare call a locksmith and have them make you one, it will save you the towing charges and get you a key... or talk to management and tell them your situation and might be able to wait until Monday.

tried talking to management and it was no go, called geico roadside and she gave me an option of a tow or locksmith to extract and make a key so i opted for that. she called them and said itd be 205 if it needs extracting and a key made, geico will pay 100 of it.
I agreed since i figured a tow may cost me $40 and id have to buy a key from the dealer using vin and possibly buy an ignition cylinder and get it matched which may all be more than 105. he came and spent a while with lock picks, then used a grinder and removed the ignition, drilled it all out, finally got the piece almost 2 hours later and told me my ignition is ****ed and ill need a new one. so he removed some tumblers so my 3/4 key would work and said i can buy a new ignition and pay him to match it to a new key in the mean time.
Then he slapped me with a $289 bill, so 389 without insurance. so he didnt do what i was quoted for, my ignition is ruined and probably unsafe, my turn signal is now broken off, and i still dont have a new key. didnt even get an invoice and he wouldnt tell me where the price was from, handed him 260 as it was all i had. im calling geico to complain ughh

Damn! I would not say it was fixed, all of this went terribly wrong. Honestly I would not have paid him until he gave me a receipt even one of those store bought generic ones would do and would have to be for the agreed upon price, or the price he quoted you but with his name and signature on it. Right now n is going to be hard to dispute this one with the insurance.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Wow! That sucks, like really bad. The dealer would have cut you an OEM key for $15 from your vin provided your name was on the title. But seriously, OUCH!

If you're running and driving for now, i'll keep an eye open for a new ignition lock and key. If i have one it's yours.

filed a claim with geico about it, they had me get an estimate through them to fix what he butchered, including replacing the turn signal that he made worse. currently it runs but you can remove the key while running and sometimes it doesnt wanna shut off when turning key. estimate is $649 which is great but they are investigating right now to get my 250 deductable waived so i get a check for the full 649 which would be great.
when i hear from them soon im gonna try and get the $289 i was charged as well.
ideally id like to replace the ignition and key, apparently a new one is like 100 for module and 45 for cylinder with key
