FJ60 front springs

Could someone be kind enough to provide me with an education about FJ60 front springs? It is my understanding that the axle is mounted offset to the front of the springs and not at the spring centre.

My questions:

1. How long are the springs?

2. How wide are the springs?

3. How far forward of the centre is the axle locating pin?

4. What is the off road weight rating of the spring (max off road weight)?

5. Is there anything else of interest about them that might affect someone thinking of using these springs on a different vehicle?

Thanks for your help

Are you looking at stock height springs? Or a lift height springs?

All FJ60 springs (including most aftermarket) will have a 35mm spring eye diameter, for use with a 18mm pin or shackle. This applies to OME springs as well.

OME Dakar CS003F (stock/light load 2" lift)
5 leaves, 30mm tall, 200mm free camber, 220 lbf/in spring rate.

OME Dakar CS004F (heavy load 2" lift)
6 leaves, 36mm tall, 196mm free camber, 257 lbf/in spring rate.

OME Dakar CS005F (heavy + load 2" lift)
7 leaves, 42mm tall, 196mm free camber, 305 lbf/in spring rate.

Eye to eye, no load = ~40"
Pin is centere, no load = ~21"
Width = 2.75"

If you want some used stock ones I have some.

I guy on the other side of the state is using some 40 springs to SOA and do SA on an Isuzu Trooper. So one person's garbage is another person's treasure.

The pin is at the centre of the spring pack? Then I may have been given some bad information. I was told the axle locating pin was offset towards the front of the spring pack. I was hoping for a couple inches offset.

I should let you know what I'm up to. I'm looking to put longer springs under the front of my Land Rover for increased front articulation. Land Rovers have very short front springs (about 35 inches) and short shocks.

In order to do this I will need to install a new frame tube for the rear spring bushing and extend the front frame horns out farther, keep the axle location the same. I don't want to make any changes that will affect steering geometry so I don't want to make changes to the vertical location of the spring mounts.

It would be helpful to mount the axle off centre towards the front on the spring pack. This would be to retain as much approach angle as possible.

I am investigating FJ60 front springs as a possible solution. I have a heavy long wheelbase Dormobile with a heavy winch. My front axle weight is 2460 lbs. I can put together a custom solution but my preference has always been off the shelf parts that I can pick up quickly in case of breakage.

Might FJ60 front springs be what I'm looking for or was I given bad information?

Thanks

FJ60 front springs are centered, however FJ40 front springs are very similar in length, but have an offset pin. I'll get some specs on those when I get in front of my books...
