Ford Explorer as an Expedition Vehicle

the v6 in the explorer is a pig, but reliable.

Agreed. The 4.0L in my Ranger went 300,000 miles when I pulled it for the V8. I sold it to my neighbor, and he is putting it in his son's Bronco II.

the biggest beef i have with the explorer is that its crapy off road.

Not the case at all. I've been wheeling mine for almost 20 years, and I've pulled out more Jeeps than I care to remember.

Sure, you can screw up the TTB with a cheap, half-***** lift kit - but you can do that to any suspension.

Set up correctly, the TTB is a great setup.

I am intrigued, but every ford I have ever owned fell apart on me. Including a 91 explorer. But....I have a kid that is almost old enough to drive....
