Ford power plant in 2007 TDi?

I'll admit right out of the box, that I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Landy's since I've spent more time looking at TLCs. However, for the sake of enlightenment I was reading about Safari Drive receiving new 2007 Defender TDi's with a 2.4L Ford power plant common rail diesel for their business. To clear things up, is the power plant in the latest TDi Defenders a Ford build or has the engines always been Ford but put into LR chasis and I never knew it?

Here is the link just in case:

Cheers!

PS, for all LR lovers out there, what would you consider the value of a LR forward control being? I ask since I've found one that has a unique story to it and it could be purchased if I so desired, although I think it has the gas engine and not the diesel. It is in complete working order however.

The 2007 recieved a new Ford designed engine that came out of the Ford Transit. I don't believe any of the older engines were Ford built. We've talked about this engine just recently here.

Land Rover has been through at least 6 diesels since the Series versions. In house, VM, BMW, International and now Ford, among others.

Easy there chap, lets get the facts right!

The only BMW lumps fitted to anything form Load lane were:

2.5IL6 P38 RR
2.0 TD4 Freelander 1
4.4 Quad cam V8 L322 (nice lump)
3.0IL6 L322

Also the 300Tdi was designed by LR - a major make over form the 200Tdi, itself a major make over from the 2.5NA, which was descended from the 2.25 Oil burner - it was then sold by LR to International Motors via LR's then owners FORD. IM then worked thier magic on it to produce the 2.8TGV and it's descendants

The TD5, the 2.5ltr IL5 was NOT a BMW lump, it was LR designed before the BMW ownership of LR but pushed into production by BMW. Lovely engine, much maligned (unjustly), good for 190bhp with some mapping work etc. Has some stoopid features though - EGR, an exhaust manifold that warps within 1k miles of tuning, pressurised fuel tank that reciculates through the fuel filter...
