Greetings, I have had this set up for less than a year, building it up and making it more functional, but I am in the military and have received orders overseas. The previous owner performed the chassis swap and used the camper as their prospecting vehicle for their weekends in the mountains. I had visions of taking it to the mountains with my boys for ski/snowboard trips. The four wheel drive on this was the main reason I was interested as it makes the Chinook much more versatile than stock.
The chassis 1987 Ford Ranger 4x4 long bed and has a custom winch mount bumper. The Chinook is from a 1978 set up. I purchased from Tennessee and brought it out to Owings, Maryland (where it currently resides). I have gutted and refreshed the interior so it can sleep two. The kitchen (drivers side rear) has a brand new Flame King 2-burner stove, Coleman 12V refrigerator and sink. The passenger side rear of the camper has a portable, self contained toilet and storage. Both the beds have full storage underneath.
Power in the camper is from a house battery that lives in the drivers side rear. It also has a relay that charges the battery while the engine is running. The pop top is in great condition for the age. No major rips or tears, it is water and bug tight. All zippers are functional.
The drivers and passenger seats up front are power and the upholstery us in great condition. Radio, lights, air conditioning, heater, etc are all functioning. The motor is the original 2.9L fuel injected Ford motor with about 92k miles on the odometer. The transmission is automatic with overdrive. The transfer case works great and is push button from inside the cab.
Happy to answer any questions. Pictures to follow shortly.
