Just to add one more wrinkle in the discussion, went out last weekend for a long camping trip. My 80 series, which I always considered a larger platform seemed small compared to our friends Ford van! The van did great but it was catching limbs left and right on the tight east coast trails.
So that also has me thinking about what combo to choose.
Right now I'm thinking either a Ram with a cummins, a GMC HD with the duramax, or a ford F250. Either a full slide in like a hawk or a lighter project M or another brand that's similar.
I think this past weekend when we woke up in the rain and I had to take down the wet tent, fold up and put away the wet awning, wet dogs running around, wet jackets and cold temps, the wife was not as excited to camp. So she started to mention that she is on board with a camping upgrade!! As we pulled away our friends were standing in their van with the awning out sipping on hot coffee waiving and checking the radar with their starlink.
