Frame and tires

Does anyone know what a recommended amount of space between the trailer frame and tire should be?

I'm trying to figure out if I need spacers or not.

Please list the type of suspension your using.....

Also, before you jump to spacers,... a better way to go is getting rims with a different back spacing. I would leave the spacers as a last resort.

I have an AT independent swing arm suspension. The issue is I want to use the same wheels to match the tow vehicle.

0.75" is a very minimum, we like to see 1" at least.

The independent trailing arm suspension moves up and down so the clearance can be kept closer than a live axle. Live axles roll inward and outward as one side of the axle is compressed and the other extended. The clearances on live axles have to be greater.

Martyn,

I appreciate your response I'm at 7/8", so I am good to go what would you recommend to watch out for?

Thanks

When you deflate your tires for off-road they obviously bulge out at the bottom increasing the foot print. Most people don't realize that the tire will also bulge out at the top as well, not near as much as the bottom, but some.

Keep an eye on the clearance when you deflate. If you see rubber marks on the chassis or body next to the tire you don't have enough clearance when running lower pressures.

At 0.75" you should be fine, just keep an eye on it your first few times off road at lower pressures.
