Former Chalet owner
FREE gutted Chalet shells, Texas & Iowa (as contrasted with $3500 shell in Illinois)
One of the members of our Yahoo Chalet owners' forum just announced he's giving away his gutted Chalet shell-only, in Bastrop Texas. It's the unit seen in the 1st photo below, which apparently had a pair of air conditioners installed into it, thus there will be big holes in the back. The truck is long gone. Nobody's been able to understand the twin A/C idea, the thing must have been a rolling freezer.
As a favor for another guy I know, he is still trying to give away the gutted #1033 shell-only he has in Sheldon, Iowa, see 2nd photo where is is parked temporarily on a Dodge Dakota. PM me for the contact info for each of the guys here.
Meanwhile, we have a price comparison with this Craigslist seller in the Chicago area, who's been listing his #0290 shell-only at the opposite spectrum of value. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/rvs/3278445087.html Problem is, the highest price I ever saw for an orphaned shell-only was a 2008 eBay listing of serial #1117 for $610, and I guess the seller hasn't done much research into the relative value of other complete vehicles around the internet which are struggling to be sold at prices less than 5 grand - for example, serial #0151 near SLC which sports 8-lug 3/4 ton axle conversions: http://saltlakecity.ebayclassifieds...idvale/1976-blazer-chalet-rv-4x4/?ad=21021585
