Free Rock Sliders!

There is a great company near Salt Lake City that I've dealt with in the past on other stuff called Rocky Road Outfitters. They make rock sliders for a number of vehicles, HOWEVER, I'm looking for sliders for a Ford Superduty which they do not make. Okay here's where the free part comes in, if they don't make sliders for your model truck, you can leave your truck at their shop for a couple days and they will make a prototype set that you get to keep! I'm nowhere near SLC to take advantage of this. So please someone w/ a Reg Cab Long Bed 4 leaf sprung superduty go there and get some free sliders so the rest of us can buy the finished product. Here's a link for info.....

Almost make me wish I didn't have a back seat, almost... What a great deal it would be though for someone else.

I strongly considered doing this last year, but the cost of driving to/from SLC and staying in a hotel for a week made it more expensive than waiting for someone else to be the prototype.

My brother in law had them build a set of their 'super sliders' for his 02 Xterra.

They took a decent beating on Metal Masher in Moab, and did the job well.

You can kinda see them in this picture:

Has to be someone closer to you who will build them and also better with customer service than they (Rocky Road ) are.

A local club member had them built for his 100 Series... picks it up to find they had drilled a bunch of holes through his pinch-weld for their body mount. The mounts that did run to the frame are 1"x1" square tubing mounted to small scab plates that are attached to the frame using self-tapping screws. A club member had them do the 80 Series ones, also felt they were flimsy.

I work with just about every 4x4 shop in the state of Utah on a completely friendly basis, many of which I consider close friends. Sad to say Rocky Road is the one exception. Between the horror stories I have heard from their customers and past employees, and the flat our lies they post on their website, I don't care to be involved with them.

When they were initially building their website, specifically their Toyota section.... they basically snagged a ton of built LC photos from the internet, and advertised as something they actually knew about. Several of the owners contacted them and asked they be removed, others were not removed despite being asked. Such is the case with one of my part-time employees FJ60 that is still featured on their website. I've sat with him on several occasions when he has emailed them asking to at a minimum correct the caption and give him photo credit. Years later it is still on their site... never a reply. Even after bringing the issue up with one of their employees on another site, no action was taken. The employee has since quit and has quite the story to tell. The photo in this case was taken from his eBay auction.

I have dealt with Rocky Road several times over the past few years for suspension upgrades and recovery items. They have been great to deal with as far as I am concerned. I typically pick the parts up at their place in Heber rather than pay the extra shipping. Nice people to deal with. Like any service oriented company I'm sure someone has had a bad experience and was unhappy. They say when consumers have a bad experience they spread the word... telling something like an average of 11 people - but when they have a good experience they will tell an average of 3.

And yes... They did me a set of free Super Sliders in April for my '93 Trooper... in and out in 2 days. Mounts both to the body at the rocker panel seam and to the frame. I haven't had them bashed on yet - but they look good and are plenty stout. I told a buddy at work and he got a free set done for his Toyota a couple of weeks later. FREE IS GOOD!!!
