Fridge/Freezer Question

I think I've finally seen the light and now have some questions about both ARB and Engel fridge/freezers. I'm sure y'all have opinions and they're definitely appreciated, but please back them up with some factual information. The biggest thing that I'm wondering and can't seem to figure out, is whether the Engel mt45's can operate on the same electrical systems as the ARBs...ie can the Engels run on 12, 24, and 110 volts?

Cheers,

The Engel 45 operates off 12/24V DC or 110V AC. It automatically switches power from 12/24 volts DC to 110 volts AC.

I have a Waeco/Dometic CF-50. I really love it.
A feature that only it, the new ARB, and National Luna (I think Luna?) has is the ability to set it for a particular TEMPERATURE and forget it. Seems like a small feature, but when you set it on medium at home and then get to the cool mountains it will them freeze everything. Or you set it at medium at home and then once out in Death Valley heat everything in the cooler goes bad. The temp setting sure is nice!! 32 degree is perfect food and beer temp in my mind NO MATTER what the outside temp.

The other feature that the Waeco/Dometic and I "think" the new ARB has is a low battery cut off. If the fridge ever sense a low voltage from the battery it will shut itself off to protect your starting ability. It has three settings depending on how much juice your particular truck needs to start. My 3.4L V6 doesn't need much juice to start so the lowest setting works well. (plus I have a battery brain as a backup for my other electronic items)

Good luck and enjoy COLD beers!

I have an Engel 45 and have used it now for about 5 years. It works great and uses very little power. It does not have a specific temp. control. i.e. set it for 32F and it stays there. However, the 1,2,3, setting etc is pretty good and Engel now has a cordless thermometer so you can monitor the temp from the dash etc. I prefer the rugged steel construction over the plastic ARB and Waeco etc. buy soon I hear they are all going up! you will not regret a fridge purchase.
