From Hawaii to Guam, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, and Bahrain

Well, so much for OPSEC. The news doesn't leave much to the imagination... :Wow1:

It is a little scary that within 5 minutes I was able to find out the exact location (with map) of the incident, when the Hartford left port, where it was heading and a whole plethora of info about both vessels. We know some people on the Hartford too:Wow1: Small world. This is not the first time the USS Hartford has had an accident. Early in it's career it ran aground.

Update

Well, we have been stranded in Bahrain for going on a month now due to the submarine size hole in our hull... needless to say my fun meter is about pegged... and we are still waiting in the Q for the drydock. It would seem our hopes for further travel have been dashed upon the rocks of fate.

So, we continue the fight. The Bahrain Grand Prix is this weekend and we still have beer and wi-fi!!!

Bahrain Drydock

Life at the Asry shipyard in Mina Salman here in Bahrain is... industrial to say the least. Here's where I live for now.

Whoa!

Your CPO club looks for all the world like the "Green Bean" at Camp Lemonier.

Spooky place about 0200.

Enjoy(?) dry dock and here's hoping you get to the Grand Prix!

Djibouti

Once the ship was repaired in Bahrain we headed for Africa.

Here are some pics from Djibouti!

Me and the boys at the 13th Foreign Legion Demi-Brigade (13 DBLE), base at Arta Beach, Djibouti.

Dude!

Welcome to my old neighborhood! (I was at Camp Lemonade (CJTF-HOA) for a year!)

Never been to Arta Plage, but been up on top. The cliffs are incredible - tectonic plates will do that. Some more pictures of Djibouti are at: http://www.pbase.com/diplostrat/djibouti

Have dinner at La Terrasse and and say "Hello" to Mona for me. Go to the restraurant near the port for Yemeni fish. (Avoid the DFAC - its the same stuff you have on ship.) :)

Go to the souk and buy yourself an Afrar knife - not one of those wimpy Yemeni ones. (You might also what to learn how to use it. Most interesting.)

All the best!
