Front cab remodel

After several years of hemming and hawing over what I should do with the seating arrangement I finally pulled the trigger and started tearing the cab apart. The major change was the back seat area. It originally had a bench seat that sat three a bit cramped. Under the bench was a storage area that originally had a 20 gallon water bladder that the PO had used in Africa. Not trusting the sanitary conditions of the water bladder it was also removed. This left me with a blank slate. This is what I have done so far, reupholstered the front seats, tore out the back seat and cleaned up years of accumulated dirt that had been collected from the UK to Africa to the US. I have two seats for the back that are just sitting back there until I fab up some brackets that will allow the seat backs to reamain in place while the seat bases fold forward to allow access to the storage area beneath. I am also looking at insulate the back wall of the cab now that the bench seat is gone it is just a bit louder. My only complaint so far is that the seats are two different fabrics but in the grand scheme of things it's really not a issue with me as I'm not much of a purist. Oh, and before you mock the fan, you Defender owners know how bad inside window fogging can get, this fan along with the regular heater takes care of that problem in no time, it's a life saver.

The front seats are a do-it yourself kit I got at a great price from British Pacific which is made by Exmoor Trim. It includes new foam and covers and I was able to do both seats in about 2 hours. The back seats are rear deluxe style seats from Exmoor Trim that are made for a series or early D90.

Looks like you could put a fridge between those rear seats! Make's for a nice arm rest for my kids, a cold drink is always close by!

My plan is for another Tuffy with 12v outlets for the kids games on long road trips. Maybe when the kids get older a fridge might be in order but for now they would rather have power to their DS than a cold drink:sombrero:

whats that latch/box above the rear seats ? My 130 doesn't have that box that the speaker above the rear seat is mounted in.

I split the duty, There is the fridge (keeps them apart nicely!) plus gamer plug in's in the rear of my front tuffy. They have neater bags for their games than I have for any of my gear so they keep there stuff in those under the seat

Just think, stop the truck at the camp, pull the key... Turn around and there it sits,, right within easy reach.... That ice cold beverage of malt and hops smiling at you!
That aside I like the fit of those rear seats..

That's a nice storage area that at the moment hold my Workshop Manual and Parts Manual as well as some other light reading. In addition to that I also have a niffty shelf just above the front window that is convenient for holding cell phone, sunglasses etc.... and it also was a perfect mounting spot for my Yaesu HAM radio as well as the fan you see in the picture.
