I've had a few other questions that I figured I would answer here as well. This welder is designed to be permanently attached to the vehicle. There are ways that you could make it removable, but it somewhat troublesome and I don't feel confident in offering that ability with modifying your alternator.
Also, the welder does not act as a battery isolator (to my knowledge). As you can see in the rear-view, there are only hookups for the positive and negative from one battery. Also, I have seen many threads where the welder is run in conjunction with a battery isolator.
