Nice... Have fun with that hood, there are a few threads on IFSJA about how to open it.

Also - is it just me, or is that side mirror comically large? My wife woulda named the truck dumbo!

Appears to be in great condition considering your are pulling it out of a yard. :)

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

resurrected from the graveyard:victory::smileeek:

the only rust i found is in the rear fenders. i think i'll just cut it out so larger tires will fit with ease.

I'm looking at swapping a nissan Turbo diesel into it. there is a 6 cylinder 3.3L out there. i just need a tranny and t-case

You thinking SD33? Supposedly a good engine - takes to turbo well enough. The obvious donor is a Scout. They were also used in some CJ10a aircraft tugs.

If you took the whole drivetrain out of either of those donors I think you'd end up with SD33/TF727/D300 (CJ used D20?). Needs more research though.

I say run the 401, But do the TFI and TBI upgrades. Get the MPG into the mid teens maybe? It's not going to be a daily driver, does it really matter what the MPG ends up as? Doing a swap is a lot of work and money.

With a 401, you are never gonna see anything beyond the preteens. It's a great engine, but it has quite the appetite for dead dinosaurs.

Looks just like Chili Pepper, my '78 Wagoneer that I sold. But mine had a cheapo Rough Country lift and went somewhere in California...and no minty interior. A beast!
