Fuse Block or Junction Box - Confused - HELP

OK, so I am confusing myself here. Am I thinking of a Fuse Block or a Junction Box. What I want to do is have a block/box to attached my accessories to, instead of hooking them all to the side posts on the battery.
At first I thought that I was needing a fuse block for this, but after reading a thread here , I think what I am needing is a junction box..this would be what you run seperate pos and neg cables to and then atthach each individual accessory to its own terminals....correct ?

Thanks for any help and any refernces,

Matt

Blue Sea fuse block. Even if everything you have now is fused, how do you know that what you buy next week will be?

A junction box allows you to pull one main line off your battery to a remote location and then have multiple smaller lines "T" off of it at the box.

A fuse block does the same thing but adds a fuse at the remote location to each individual accessory. Some have a neg. buss that you are referring to as well.

Blue Sea, Painless, stereo accessory business, as well as many other co's make these.

Be sure to put a main large fuse at the battery for either block

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I'll have to make a run to west Marine and check out the boxes they have.

Last time I was in Napa, I saw a 6 or 8 terminal ATC (Blade style)fuse block for under 10$ You just feed one hot wire from the battery, and each output from there is fused. It can really clean up the wiring as opposed to individual in line fuses on each appliance.

West marine might be the only place to find a good buss bar for the grounds though unless you shop online.

So, I am looking at the different boxes out there and don't see any that look like you can connect the cables from a winch to them. Do they make one that might have spots for larger cable as well as the smaller wire for lights ?

I use one of each.

I have a fuse box with negative buss underhood and a junction box in the rear cargo area.

The junction box is fed by 2ga wire that is fused less than a foot away from the battery. Coming off this are 3 8ga wires. One to power inverter, one to OBA, on to locking cigarette lighter for my fridge. (Each output has its own dedicated toggle switch).

The underhood fuse box feeds the following:
Headlight Relay
Hella Offroad light Relay
Foglight Relay
CB Radio
Underhood installed Water temp gauge
Rear telescoping work light
12v corded work light
Roof rack lights will be installed once i get a rack.

Maybe something like this

maybe attach the + and - from the battery and the winch on the lugs and accessories to the other spots.

your winch cables should always go directly to the battery. too much draw for any junction block type product.

for sure!

you want to use a distribution block battery terminal that allows you to use a large gauge cable to your winch and normal cables to your accessory fuse block and OEM fuse panel/starter.
aftermarket stereo accessory stores will have what you are looking for.

Just here...
I have a junction box under the dash that drives all the lamps on the truck. I dont like it, mostly because of the questionable wiring job done by the previous owner, and will be replacing it a fuse block shortly.

I just installed a fuse box in the rear of the truck like the one you pictured and built a small box that houses 3 12v sockets and gets its power from the fuse box. The box powers my fridge, a work lamp and whatever else I decide needs the power. I have a power line running to the back of the truck off the aux battery (a fused line for safety).

The winch should draw off the main battery since it pulls SO much power when under load. If youre running two batteries, the draw from the winch should pull power from both batteries that way.
