Fuso ambulance box!

Weight is always important. A 12,000 pound truck will handle better, stop quicker and require less fuel to push down the road than the same truck weighing 14,000. Your truck may be able to carry the weight, but this does not mean that weight isn't an important consideration. "Add lightness." -Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus.

Bombproof they are indeed, at the expense of weight, unnecessary storage and cold bridging through all of that aluminum. A composite box can be constructed quite inexpensively and is far superior in design and function. Post some pictures; I have never seen a Fuso ambulance.

Couldn't agree with you more.

I use the "add lightness" quote all the time and hope to trim Fido weight down even further in the future. I attribute much of the driving quality, durability, performance, and efficiency of Fido to the fact that I managed to keep the total weight around the 10K lbs mark.

Well would you look what I found. 2003 FE with a Braun ambulance body from a 1988 f350
Apparently the bodies don’t have north sound frame rails so you can easily mount them with bolts. Fascinating!

Fuso as an ambulance, hmmm... I hope it is not life threatening.

I once heard a story of a Fuso ambulance that picked up a woman ready to deliver her first child. Turns out instead of going to the hospital they just dropped the kid off at school.
