Gaia add waypoint to existing track

Hello, I created a track of my recent trip using iOS. I now wish to add points to it to record things like places camped etc. how do I do that?

Pull the saved track up on the map and simply do a long press on the spot you want to add a waypoint. An info box and a little pencil icon pops up. Hit the pencil to name the new waypoint.

That action creates a stand alone waypoint. It doesn't make it part of the existing track.

This is correct. Tracks do not include waypoints.

You can create a folder and then add the existing track and new waypoints. Then they can be grouped together for easier retrieval.

I guess I don't understand the problem. It seems like when a saved track is pulled up on the map all of the waypoints are there including way points I added later. Am I missing something?
