When did you test this?
I tried it not long ago and it worked. It's still not as powerful as the MapSource. However, while at MacWorld Expo this past Jan, I spent quite a bit of time at the Garmin booth.
They said they are working hard on the new Mac version and it will be ported over the PC soon. Mapsource as we know it is dead.

Now, I don't have a PC to convert the maps. When I loaded Bobcat, only the basemap shows - a bit weak, but maybe if I had the Mac version of City Navigator loaded it would be better, not sure. MapInstall and MapManager won't work with out the converted maps. I guess I expected a bit more even for a beta. Google maps ( for $20) and LoadMyTracks was much more fun.
Is there an nRoute type of thing for Macs? I love the 60csx for a nice crossover but would like to expand it to the Macbook. Although, GPS is rather cheap these days......
Can't upload a .kmz file. Too bad, it's rather funny to watch someone wandering around.

What the Garmin rep said was that they would stop development of MapSource and the new map interface would be based on their Bobcat product. The maps themselves would still be compatible.spressomon said:

As an FYI, I have been going back and forth with Garmin over the last few weeks working with my 60 Csx. The last email that I got from them was that something this month or next City Navigator was going to be released as fully Mac compatable, with Topo to follow shortly thereafter. They still directed me to upload the maps from an IBM and manipulate with Bobcat, but were clear that Mac versions were close.

Well...hopefully Garmin's new to be Topo maps will be 1:24,000 scale. Its been a rumor for 2-years...
