Gen 1 trans removal questions...

A '90 3.0l LWB tranny can be pulled with transfer case attached, right? I got everything free and moving last night only to find that tranny/transfer case is getting hung up, not allowing removal. Went to bed thinking fresh eyes needed to look at it at a later time.

Not sure on a Gen 1. I pulled my old '93 Gen 2 auto and tranfercase as one, from the bottom on jackstands. Was not fun.

Thanks for the response...yes I have found that it is indeed not fun on the Gen 1 as well. The '90 is up on jack stands with plenty of ground clearance but struggling with the angle to clear the flywheel with the bell housing and not having the transfer case all caught up or binding on anything. Only thing left underneath is the cross member that is welded and can't be removed. As the stroy goes, lightly frustrating.

it all drops as one unit. using an adjustable transmission jack helps a lot. i use a disposable ratchet straps to secure it well (instead of the chain that usually comes with a trans jack).
