My Montero is starting to have some weird eletrical gremlins. Wiring on and around my engine block " engine electrical harness" is starting to dry rot and crack in certain sections. This was a southern Cali truck most of its life. Truck runs great since I dropped a new 3 years , unlimited miles, re-manufactured engine. I had to pull the engine a second time after the install due to a scuffed piston.
So this wiring engine harness is starting to get jacked up and I do not trust it in the future with water crossing and and I'm not going to plasti-dip bad sections as a stop gap measure. So I ventured to the dealer down the road and learned that there is a part number for a engine electrical harness . The catch is that it is not stocked anymore. I asked the dealer what would they do in this situation. They said " we would pull from another Gen 2.5" and then have it tested and looked over by a auto electrics place up the street from" my house. So I went to visit this shop and was told we can build you a new harness provided you supply connectors" Denso ,Nippon" specific to Mitsubishi. Go back to the dealer one more time to see about getting new connectors. I was then informed that there are no numbers to match up to the connectors for individual sale.
Completely feeling defeated here . I know these connectors can be had. Went and snooped around some of the 3000 gt forums seeing as they guys do 6G74 swaps all the time and things melt and they replace to make custom harness's . I got turned on to one site. Great getting closer , but there min order is crazy. Besides going to the junk yard and pulling a harness from another Gen2 donor and wondering will everything line up on a Gen 2.5 electrically speaking.
Does anyone know will I run into issues pulling a engine electrical harness lets say from a 97 and swapping into my 1999 Gen 2.5?
Anyone know where to buy connectors a few at a time?
I was informed that I could maybe get a new engine harness from a dealer in OZ ? Anyone know would a Austrailian Pajero NL engine harness work on a US Montero " Cali " edition?
