Gen 2.5 Turn Signal / Blinker

Monterado

Observer
On my way to the office this AM, my L turn signal decided to stay on after I tried to turn it off. Now, it is stuck on 100% of the time. Does anyone have experience repairing this issue?

Usually the mechanism in the steering column in most 95+ cars still mechanical, so it might be a contact just stuck closed, or the problem might be the flasher. Start at the steering column on the turn signal selector and you might have to take it apart and clean, or follow the wiring and find the flasher. I will try and look up the manuals at home to help you out.

I've replaced the blinker on both my Montero's. Its easy to do and cheap, and a stocked item at AutoZone. You take off the steering column cover, then pull the turn signal stalk out of the column by unseating it from the socket it's in, and then plugging in a new one.

nwoods, you are the MAN! This is the 2nd time this month you have bailed me out. I appreciate the feedback. My alternator swap went smoothly thanks to your instruction, BTW. Thanks again!

Happy to help. It's what these forums are for. Believe me, I have benefited a ton as well. It's a good community.
