Hey guys,
Have an 03 limited with 145k on it. Love the truck, and haven't had any major problems in the year or so and 10k that we've owned it. Came with a pretty good stack of receipts, and was pretty well maintained (timing belt, etc).
Over the winter (we're in NorCal, so no salt, but had snow / moisture), after some deep snow trips the transmission shifter would get stiff, and eventually got so stiff that I couldn't shift it into drive for fear of breaking something. Ended up taking the selector sensor on the side of the transmission off, putting some silicone grease in there, and there was a bit of corrosion where the selector shaft goes into the transmission case. After greasing and cleaning, everything back to normal, better than when we got it in fact.
Fast forward a few months to last week, start up the truck, put it in drive and the indicator light goes P,R,N and then disappears instead of lighting up D. Truck feels like it's in neutral, but the clicks to get it into drive were positive. Back up to R, down to D, light on, everything normal and good.
Few days later, wife mentions that she was driving and the traction control and stability control (i think, the lights are next to each other) turned on and then off after a few minutes. No other issues.
Today, it did the false drive to me again, and the warning lights were on for a few minutes - so seems like the problem might be getting worse. Only seems to happen on cold starts.
Any ideas?
