Gen 3 - Bottle jack no longer tall enough

Ended up with a flat last night after having to run through some nasty flood wash. Luckily I didn't notice any loss of air until after I was home. I say luckily because with the 265/75-16's the bottle jack alone wasn't tall enough to lift the hub high enough to get the spare on. Added some blocks and got it done, there was the realization that if I was in the hills I would have been screwed.

So, what are you guys using for jacks on your gen 3's? Eventually there will be sliders and a bull bar but that's not in the near future, which for now leaves out the hi-lift.

The high lift with the wheel attachment works fine for this. You just need a jackstand. I also keep some 2x6 step chocks aboard for leveling the truck for sleep; these make dandy Jack pads.

Damn, that thing is pretty intense. Did you end up getting one? I'd love to hear how it works for you offroad.

Didn't think about the jackstands. Not a bad idea to have along regardless, never like being under a rig with only a jack supporting it.

Just a driveway test it has gear reduction so it is kind of slow but made to lift a armored Humvee it has a large base so it should work good in dirt but I will probably carry a few two by 6 blocks anyway

Good to know! Thanks for sharing. You wouldn't think that the 75's would be enough difference to matter eh? I better throw some wood blocks in there, just in case.

Cheers for the heads up!

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I have replaced the stock jack with a 6 ton bottle jack...works a treat.
Another option are the extensions for your stock jack (quality usa made products).
