Gen3 won't start on hills

OK, I am turning to the wisdom of your collective experience. My 2001 Monty has difficulty starting on cold mornings when I park it on a decline. This morning was about 25 degrees. It started, then stalled and refused to start again untill I towed it to a level spot in the driveway. This is the second time in 4 months that this has happened. Both times it would turn over, but not start. Both times i towed it to a flat spot and it started and ran fine. Have any of you guys had a similar problem?

No check engine light? I'm guessing the decline and towing to a flat spot is just a coincidence. I had a failing crank position sensor once that made me conjure up all kinds of crazy scenarios about what conditions caused it to act up.

You followed me, so now we're both lost
My 01 had issues with starting. I had to keep light throttle until it warmed up. It turned out to be an issue in the vacuum lines. I would also recommend checking and cleaning the idle air control valve.

Nope, no check engine light. It just won't start. I tried to let it sit for an hour after multiple attempts, just in case it was flooded. I will check the air control valve.

OK, things are getting closer. Now in the mornings I am smelling a little gas. So time to check for leaks.
