Genuine Parts Supplier Restrictions??

On a rather irregular basis, I check the Britannica Restorations site to see all the stuff available there. This time, I came across this notice posted there by the owner:

Latest news concerning parts for North America

I have just been informed that I am no longer allowed to be supplied with Genuine boxed parts from Land Rover in the future via my current supplier (in fact all UK wholesalers)

This is not just me, but effects everyone outside the EU

This means that if your require parts that are genuine only, then you have to get it from the dealers and that will be the same price as I get.

I can get Genuine parts from other outlets, but there will not be any saving due to the fact I will have to do double shipments from the UK to complete orders

I will try to source parts that are OEM, but sadly Genuine parts now will be quite expensive. At this time I do not have a list of parts effected, but I will do my best efforts to keep your car on the road.

This ruling comes from Land Rover themselves, they want the maximum out of your pocket.

Worst effected vehicles will be the P38 range, Disco II, III. Ranger Rover sport etc

There are enough OEM suppliers of parts for Series, Defenders and Disco 1 fortunately.

Anyone heard anything about this? I'm lucky, I've got a Series Rover. Too bad for anyone with a more modern machine...

I heard something just like that somewhere else. Apparently we will only be able to get OEM parts through the dealer, or Rovers North.

Stupid. I should probably write a letter. I was thinking about buying a Freelander 2 as my next car, but now probably not.

I wonder if this is the reason I've seen some D2/P38 parts that I've been looking at disappear from AB's site.
