Glamis Sand Dunes in a Jeep XJ Cherokee *PIC HEAVY*

ll make it brief and get to the pics...

I had a BLAST! Air'd down to 12 PSI on my 33" BFG ATs and just would not slow down. I even stuck her into 2WD with a open diff and just blasted around the dunes. My only single grief is a lack of some massive horsepower for showboating in the big nasty bowls...:drool:

Sure brings back memories! Use to live in Encinitas and our group played those dunes for 20 years in Jeeps. Mine was a '46 CJ2A with a Chevy 350 w/auto trans. Learned to do most dune running in 2WD, long before it became more popular. Most of the areas we ran are now closed I hear. Haven't tried any dunes with my XJ but I'm sure it's capable for limited dune running. Big learning cure I'm sure.

some of the ones with little to know other vehicle tracks really give a sense of isolation and remoteness, would be easy to think you were in Africa.

Sounds like you had a really good time and looks like there weren't that many other people there, also good to hear the XJ did so well.

Thanks for posting up and giving me another reason to go play somewhere not that far away from Phoenix.
