Glow Plug #5

Hello,

Apparently, I have a glow plug code #5.
As I understand there is a chance that the plug will break during extraction.
A good mechanic, who worked on my car says its a 50/50 chance the plug will break!

Your opinion, please!
Should I look for another mechanic?
How complicated is removing a broken plug?

Thanks

soak the offending plug with pb blaster or WD-40 before you drive it for the next week or so and the glow plug should come out easily. If they break it they'll have to try and drill it out and if that fails the head might have to come off but i don't know what to do if you break one, because the pb blaster soak always worked

I think a lot has to do with what the vehicle is and the failure mode of the plug.

If the plug is mushroomed or bent and the electrode bit breaks off and falls into the cylinder… various level of not good happen.

In a best repair scenario you pull the head. Maybe instead you inspect with a bore scope and get creative.
