Is the dimmer a multi-pole switch or a pot? Have you tried contact cleaner?

Clay's CB shop. Local to me; they do good work and most of their business over the interwebs. I have bought three radios and antennas from them, had all the radios peaked and tuned, and had one radio repaired there and was happy with all the transactions. http://www.claysradioshop.com/

Unless you can find someone local its really not worth shipping. The radio can be found new under $100 new manytimes depending on the "version" you can get it for $60... Figure shipping is 10-$15, shipping back the same, plus bench time of $30/hr plus parts. Your getting close to new radio prices.

The dimmer switch is just a toggle switch. Do you actually use it? If not then wire it
the way you normally leave it and your done. You might be able to order the switch from cobra or just buy a junk radio on ebay and replace the switch or switch module.

You didnt say where your at, but if you have a truck stop nearby thats about the only place you can find CB shops now a days. Google CB shop Yourtown/ your state and see what pops up.
