I see it has the super-rare and hardly ever seen in North America V-6 engine. If I'm not mistaken this truck is a prototype and is worth WAY more than $5000.

I'm no Rover-knower but do the 3rd row seats look like this (I thought they faced forward)? Also, says 8 cyl on website.

That's how they were... We always drew straws for who had to sit in them on drives to Tahoe.

also has rear a/c, something screwed up in the steering column/key area, missing rear carpet, a couple of missing knobs and buttons, missing door pocket, a potential leaky diff (don't they all), a pretty glossy blackout paint job...

Nothing that would stop me from looking. Just nit-picking the photos.

Man the prices on discos are always so tempting. Too bad i'm a chicken when it comes to the maintenance reputation :(.

I know what ya mean, I've had 2 rovers, only the one I bought new. Both had constant motor and electrical problems. The freelander needed a head gasket replaced at 38k! I've been a yota guy ever since.

bum luck you've had. i've owned six rovers -- from a '61 SII to an NAS 110 to an '04 DII -- and only one of them had/has had any problems... knock on aluminum.

Don't get me wrong I'd love a defender and I worked at a rover dealer before, I just think alot of the newer models aren't worth it.

Right there with ya... I've passed up some pretty sweet Disco-deals for just that reason. Although some folks say that they have no problems with their LR, I think that the vast majority of LR owners would say otherwise (at least the Disco owners would).

I'm not knocking anyone's ride here, but he thought of a major mechanical failure in a remote area just doesn't sound all that great to me- especially considering how often I'm in remote areas solo. For that reason, I tend to stick with vehicles that have a pretty strong track record for reliability, as well as cost of repair.

One of these days though, I know I'll give in and buy a Disco... hopefully one of the ones that never has any issues :D
