Got degraded mileage over time?

Put a bottle of heet or similar in the tank at the next fillup (Valvoline has one that I used after I got some bad gas in North Seattle (U76 off I-5 & Northgate Wy)). Even after a refill I'm now getting better gas mileage than ever according to the scangauge.

I would wonder how common it is for these types of problems but there is money involved so I know some people will try to mix in as much water as they can without getting caught. I just never realized it.

Anyway, if you haven't tried it and you think your vehicle may not be getting the mileage you expect, or it's degraded over time, give it a try. I'm kinda pleased that a purchase of $1.50 actually works and is going to pay for itself many times over on just the first tank.

Heet fuel line antifreeze and water remover? Just so you know, it's main ingredient is alcohol, the same thing they add so much of in the gas anymore (usually up to 10%). And the main ingredient in "octane booster" is kerosene. And 2 oz of acetone per 10 gallons unleaded helps clean out the fuel system.

I don't doubt you're getting better mileage, just wanted to point out that there are alternatives. BTW, gas stations don't mix water into their tanks on purpose - gas and water would separate leaving all the water at the bottom / no point to it - most of any water that would be in there occurs when the tanker is refills their main tanks (which stirs everything up off the bottom, don't fill your rig while the tanker truck is there)

Its also the most dangerous time to fill up(when the tanker is there) from a fire perspective. At least that's what they taught us at haz mat school.
