GPS question/recommendation?

So my wife has offered to get me a GPS unit for the Landcruiser and I must admit that I am now completely confused. The reality of it is that this unit for now will mostly be for navigating Los Angeles traffic or 80-90% on road use. I am looking at the Nuvi 765T or 755T (the 755T isn't bluetooth capable) and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Do these higher Nuvi models have topo maps? They don't seem to from any of the reviews that I've read but I may not be looking in the right places. Would I be better off just getting the Nuvi 500? Any GPS I would need for off road could be pretty simple for now, I am not doing anything that remote. Thanks for any input you might have. :D

I'm thinking about going with the 755T, I already have bluetooth from the factory. I do believe that topo maps can be added via memory card slot. From the reviews that I have read, it appears to be a pretty good GPS unit. I found it online for about $350.00 at everyprice.com.

I bought the NUVI 500 last week at REI for $299.99 if your a member. So far it's great. I haven't had it offroad yet, but I'm sure it will do well. I'm really glad that I got this one so I can hike with it as well as drive. You can also bike and boat with it as well. The Garmin rep was at the store when my wife picked it up and he put some stuff in it that isn't available in the US version as yet. So I have the only one in the US that has what ever it is. I think it is just a bunch more Icons is all, but hey it was free. Plus he updated mine so I didn't have to when I got it home. One of the major things that sold me on it was that it is waterproof and the TOPO as well.

I have the NUVI 780 and am very happy with it. It was a godsend on our cross country trip. Haven't put any topo on it yet, but have heard it is possible. I'm in the market for another one now, and am looking at the NUVI 500. The 780 will go to the wife.

I have been researching GPS units and if I were to get a NUVI it would be the 500. Waterproof, preloaded NT and topos, 2d and 3D directions, touch screen, and some weird options like a calculator and currency converter.

The waterproof part is a big sales point, I have a 2 year old co pilot. :punk03: Has anyone used the GDB 55 MSN direct receiver thing that lets it get traffic reports? The other plus is that the 500 can be had at REI which if I buy it before the 24th I can get an additional 20% off. :roost:
