Great pictures! Were you able to check out the mine?
Thanks. No exploring. The Park Service recommends (forbids? I forget) against mine exploration. I was only too happy to abide.

There is a cave up there, Cave of the Domes, that is open to exploration. I managed to find it, but too late in the day to go in. Plus I somehow managed to go looking for a cave without a light. That just means another trip will have to be made and I will be able to walk right to it next time. That's something I love about that place, you're always finding something you want to check out "next time".

Nice. R2R the hard way. Thanks for the welcome.

I'm supposed to do a trip this year: Start in the AZ Snowbowl parking lot around 3 AM and climb the Humphrey's Summit of the San Fransisco Peaks and back, then, hop on mountain bikes and cut down Hart Prairie to the Stage Coach trail to the South Rim, then down S. Kaibab trail to Phantom Ranch to spend the night then out Bright Angel in the AM.

It is something my crazy neighbor has been trying to get me to do with his group for the last few years. He did a R2R2R run last weekend.

Yeah, I've thought about that, but not the biking part. That's a neat idea. Unfortunately, I've let my physical condition slip in the past year or two so for now it's not on the map. Plus I'm getting older, and while I can still do some stuff, I don't recover like I used to. I always wanted to do that R2R /Humphrey's summit in a day, but drive between the two. Biking...hmm.

An R2R then a summit would be insane. There is a dude in my office who is training for a Guinness record of R2R2R2R2R2R within a 24 hour period. He has already done R2R2R2R2R.

Every time I have hiked up from the bottom of the Canyon, I have thought to myself " the R2R runners are insane ".

Hadn't heard of adding an ascent of Mt Humphrey to the mix. Now that is clinical insanity! Hat's off to anyone who can accomplish that task...

I am so jealous of you living in Flag! I would probably never get anything done though, being that close to the Canyon.....
