Hand crank chargers?

I'm curious if anyone has played with either of these hand crank chargers?

My interest is more from the disaster preparedness or emergency angle. I have a Yaesu VX-2R radio that I would like to be able to keep charged in the event of an extended power outage (3.7v Li-Ion battery; wall charger output 6V @ 500mA).

The K-Tor crank would work for the radio and a number of other items. My question is with the TurbineBoost2000 that relies on a USB connection. Since it is USB, it is limited to 5V output. Would that be enough to allow the radio to take a charge or is that just under the threshold?

The benefit of the K-Tor is it's more versatile; it could charge any of my radios or other devices. The TurbineBoost is nice in that you can have it charged as a quick backup then use the crank once it is depleted but if the output isn't enough, it's a dead issue.

Thanks!

Bump for a potentially interesting thread. As a side note, some tablets, including my Asus TF201, require 15v so 99.9% of USB chargers are completely useless, would be nice if there was a hand charger with selectable output.

I wonder when they will release the pedal charger, it looks like you could set it up on a table and do it by hand.
