I almost bought one of the HF 45W kits for my cabin a couple years ago.
We have 2 batteries, and use 12V lights at night (also have LP gas lights, and a generator)
I was leary, not knowing much about solar at all, and it seems to improve and get less expensive all the time.
After reading a lot of info here on the Portal, I decided to wait, and get a decent charging set up. One I know will work, even in the low light short winter days we get here.
HF is OK for somethings, but I prefer to spend my money once, and have a product that will last me a long time.
I do buy tarps and moving blankets there, and it's a great source for a spare set of trail tools in the back of the truck or Jeep. Not such a loss if they get stolen.
