Hard Tonneau - interior bed clearance

Hey guys,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but i figured if anyone knows about packing supplies its expo guys. Im looking to pull the trigger on a leer 700 (or similar) on my 2010 Silverado and i was wondering if it will add any interior (height/depth) clearance to the bed. I want to be able to lock stuff up when I leave the campsite but also have to transport supplies for work that are almost exactly 21.5" tall. The bed is 21" deep so my question is will the tonneau accommodate that extra ~.5"?? I appreciate the help ahead of time.

I don't know about a GM, but my Dodge 2 series hard tonneau was not high enough for me to roll over in a sleeping bag in the bed. We were on the Mojave Road and I was just going to sleep in the bed with the lid up. What could possibly go wrong? I started to snow, so i lowered the top with me in the bed and found I could not roll over. Kind of a weird claustrophobia. I had 2, 2x4 blocks with me and used those upright on the top of the tailgate as kind of spacers. It worked fine and I had some air exchange to boot and stayed dry. The tonneau had zero clearance above the side rails, but maybe 1/4" with the bed liner in there.

I had the same issue, wanted the cover for the bed but also carry taller items at times, so I opted for a rolling bed cover and I have been very happy with it.

I went with a folding cover so I could carry taller items without removing the cover.

I think most of the hinged covers will give you a tad more room since they sit on top of the rails, but you'd have to measure each individual cover to be sure.

My Gaylord tonneau sits pretty flush. I doubt I have .5 inches to spare. That being said, I hate it and will never get another 1 piece fiberglass model. Looks awesome, but pretty much neuters my truck
