Hard Top Repair

Well my 18 year old son decided he needed to go wheeling the other night and backed into a large rock. Hit the drivers side rear corner dead center. Besides the needed body work, the bottom of the hard top was gouged out and the seam between the front and rear half has come loose.

In your experience can most body shops repair these tops or should I start looking for someone who specializes in fiberglass repair? I'm in the Inland Empire (Ca.) if anyone has suggestions. Thanks

I once read where a guy took it to a boat shop since they do a lot of fiberglass work. Probably not a bad idea to look into.

It might sound silly, but the seam can be repaired with JB Weld, and the gouge can be filed with Bondo or any similar filler, which is largely a fiberglass resin (polyester?) based product anyway, especially if you use the Kitty Hair type stuff with glass strands in it. Most body shops should be able to do glass repair, but unless the panels are crushed, fiberglass is easy to repair at home.
