Having a tough time deciding...

My family and I just moved to Victoria, Australia and finally have the time, money, and space for a camper[van].

The only thing is, we are having a really hard time deciding between a campervan and a truck with a caravan or camper trailer.

So far, here are the pros and cons we have come up with for both:
Campervan - pros: everything is contained, ready to go whenever, lots of fun to DIY and kit out
Campervan - cons: might not be a great daily driver, lose the carrying capacity of a truck/empty van, difficult to add another seat in the back for our 4 year old

Truck + caravan/camper trailer - pros: better daily driver (because can fit a car seat for our 4 year old easily), carrying capacity of truck bed
Truck + caravan/camper trailer - cons: more difficult to tow something, 'clearance' of a caravan, setup time of a camper trailer

We are thinking that we would probably only 'go bush' rarely as that isn't really what we are interested in. (So the awesome Landcruiser builds that you see all over Australia is much more than we need.)

I would love to hear from anyone regarding their two cents!

P.S. - when I told friends about my truck and caravan idea, they were very disappointed in me :)
